My Reasons for Supporting Bob Henry for Mayor of Nampa

GUEST POST by Hubert Osborne (Nampa, Idaho) —

Mr. Henry is a long time Nampa resident and has had a successful insurance business for many years in Nampa.

He is active in his church and served as volunteer for NNU in many different capacities. His service on the Nampa School board is recognized as the school district was in much better condition when he left than when he first was elected to the board.

In 2011 Mr. Henry ran for city council against long time Police Chief Curtis Homer and pulled off what can only be described as an upset. Since Mr. Henry's time on city council his questions and votes have changed the entire focus of Nampa city govt. from one of where can we get more revenue to one of lets watch our spending and careful with the regulation. His continued opposition and questioning of Urban Renewal expenditures have saved the city and taxpayers a considerable amount of money but a 2 to 2 vote with the current Mayor siding with more govt. and big spending is not quite enough.

Nampa has a unique opportunity this November to elect a new Mayor in Bob Henry who has proved his valor in battle and will continue to lead the city of Nampa back to fiscal responsibility. There are also 4 city council seats to be filled.

Many changes need to be made—the 20% franchise fee on garbage, the large number of employees compared to other cities of the same size, the Idaho Center $1.7 million deficit, expansion of Urban Renewal through questionable interpretations by City attorney, and most importantly removing the city of Nampa's name from the 2nd highest property tax rate in Idaho. Only Caldwell is higher. Many talk the talk but men of action are few.

These changes will not be easy or accomplished overnight but if you have relatives, friends or people who are concerned about big govt. and want someone who is acting on his beliefs every day, rather than sitting in their foxhole, please join me in electing Bob Henry to be Mayor of Nampa this November.
