Idaho Land Board vs. Idaho Republican Platform

Land Board¹: Challenge for the trustee (Land Board) is managing revenue-generating activities within a government agency. (Asset Plan² p. 3)
Platform³: "A competitive market, free of undue governmental competition, restriction, coercion, or interference, is critical to Idaho's economic well-being." (p. 9)

Land Board: Currently owns and manages eight parking lots and seven office-retail properties in downtown Boise. They plan to buy more commercial properties to include, but not be limited to, office, retail, and light industrial business, public facilities, hospitality, energy resources (wind, hydro, geothermal), communication sites, ski resorts, etc. (p. 23)
Platform: "The proper role of government is to provide only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations." (p. 1)

Land Board: Change social and political attitudes and values, markets, and products. (p. 26)
Platform: "We believe Idahoans must protect the principles and values that have made us strong." (p. 1)

Land Board: Operating a profit oriented business within a government agency. (p. 26)
Land Board: Add properties to the commercial portfolio. (p. 24)
Platform: "We endorse the review of all government programs and encourage their assumption by private enterprise..." (p. 2)
